3 Bamboo Blinds For Practical Bathroom?

One thing that gets asked often is whether or not bamboo blinds are practical for a bathroom setting? You know, where it gets all hot and humid and the blinds are likely to get wet at one point or another. And we all know what happens to wood when it gets wet. Starts to swell and then cracks all the paint off of it and then makes the blind just look cheap! Well not with some quality bamboo blinds.

What I’ve done here is gone out and gotten what I call 3 quality blinds made of bamboo that will be a good fit for practical bathrooms. They had to look good, be a reasonable price and be effective both visually and physically in a bathroom setting. Here’s what I came up with.

The Tavarua Basics Bamboo Shade from Blinds Chalet:
2 Tavarua Bamboo ShadesFor me, I don’t like simple white blinds all that much. I like my blinds to have a little color to them and these certainly fit the bill. These window shades come in a large variety of colors ranging from the exotic Java Honey to a more natural looking wood color in Monterey Oak. My favorites though have to be the Panama Cedar and Panama Sand.

I really like the color of these two. Ones a bit darker than the other but they will look good in virtually any bathroom giving them a hint of the tropics along the way. Plus, there’s quite a large selection of edge binding to further enhance the look of yours to be either more subtle, or give it a dramatic appeal with a berry binding. Of course they come with coordinating cord and tassels.

If you are putting these in the bathroom though, you’d probably want to upgrade to have a privacy lining installed as they will let light peek through. However, if your window is already privately located, they should be fine. At the time of this writing they were on sale starting for only $32.88. Now that’s a deal!

Mongolia Herb Bamboo Shade from Select Blinds:
I absolutely love the look of this blind. The contrasting colors in all the wood and the binding makes it simply a visual pleasure to look at. If you are looking to bring a little outside in, then The Mongolia Herb is the one for you. This shade has such a stunning look and will give some contrast to an otherwise bland bathroom making it both a beautiful and practical choice.

Mongolia Herb Bamboo ShadeThis blind has a little bit of a different feature with it in that it’s made in the roman fold style and comes with a standard 7″ valance and color coordinated wood tassels. They do feature another option that could be added and that is either a blackout or privacy lining as the Tavarua does above but one big plus with this one is that you can get in a top down / bottom up design. So if you get the privacy lining installed you can still let some light in at the top of the window by drawing it down some with that model.

Osaka Camel Bamboo Roller Shade from American Blinds:
Osaka Camel Bamboo Roller ShadeIf you happen to have an upstairs bathroom this very well may be the perfect solution to your blind problem in your bathroom. Giving off much more of an oriental appeal than a tropical appeal to me, this blind will both cover your bathroom window enough in an upstairs location and still let in enough light to make the room right. This one is a bit different than the two listed above in that it is a roller shade and not a drawstring blind. So it functions a little differently in that all you have to do is grab it and pull it down. It still has a beautiful color and tone though and does come with a wooden headrail and valance.

So, there you have it. My take on 3 bamboo blinds for practical bathrooms. Which one do you like? Let me know below!
