Home design has undergone many changes over the decades. Every single fashion or style has been seen, then faded, and then seen again. In the past decade there has been a change in home design that has focused more on a minimalist kind of style. Today’s design world is very crisp and very clean. Everything is designed and styled to put the minimum amount of work on the consumer’s shoulders. This design principle holds the same with bathroom window blinds.
There are always complications with choosing the right blinds, but there are special challenges to picking bathroom window blinds. There is a lot of humidity and moisture in the air in the typical bathroom. When you choose bathroom window blinds you should choose something that does not contain fabrics. Fabric can easily collect moisture and create a mold or mildew problem. If you absolutely must have fabric covered blinds then be sure it is a light fabric like cotton, and be sure to keep it as clean as possible.
Having wood for bathroom window blinds is another choice that you should give a second thought too. Wood blinds tend to warp and can be damaged from the moisture and heat in the bathroom over time. You can either get heavily treated blinds to protect them or choose faux wood window blinds for your bathroom.
Probably the best blinds for use in a bathroom are vinyl or aluminum. They will be very easy to clean and can be installed by yourself quite easily. All it will take is to keep them free of mildew or mold is to take a clean cloth and wipe them down regularly. Also vinyl of aluminum bathroom window blinds will not warp or be damaged. They are also very good at maintaining your privacy.
When considering your bathroom window blinds you should also consider where the window is placed. If your window is highly placed on the wall above the shower then perhaps your need for privacy will be less and your choice in blinds will be different. But if your window will be near the sink or somewhere else then you may need something more private and secure. Also if your window is in the shower, you will not want to pair your bathroom window blinds with curtains or fabric because of the potential for splashing. There are some fabrics that are water resistant, so you can look for those as well. It will not eliminate the need to occasionally replace the blinds, but may lengthen the times in between the replacements.
While you shop for your bathroom window blinds, keep in mind that whatever you choose should be functional and fit your style. You can find colors and designs to fit any style you might wish to have; all you have to do is look in the right place. Having functional blinds that will last for a long time should be the most important part.
